Dance Recital (Out of class activity)

On Sunday April 6th I went to Clover Hill High School with my mother and saw a dance recital thing. It was Encore Studio, which was the studio I danced at all my life. I danced there for 15 years. It was for the Pink Ladies which is for their competition team. For you to get on their competition team you have to be invited. I was invited for a couple years and I just didn't really have the time to do it right then because you are always at dance when you join the competition team. You will have no free time at all. Finally my Junior year of high school I joined and I did the competition team for a year. I didn't do it my senior year because I needed to focus on school and colleges and graduation. The Show that I saw on Sunday was all their competition routines. This was for people who didn't get to go to the competitions, so they could see the dances. They did spectacular and it was so nice to be able to be in the audience for once, but I wanted to be up on that stage more than anything. I miss it so much. Dance and cheerleading was my life and meant everything to me. I cheered and danced since I was like 2 or 3 years old. Their recital is in May and I can't wait to go see that too. Like I said it's going to be so nice to be able to sit back and relax and watch the girls dance, but every time they step on that stage I get chill bumps. I just want to be on that stage again. I absolutely love to dance, but with me working and going to school it is impossible to do any kind of sport.

My Experience In Court (out of class activity)

A few months back I got pulled over for the first time ever. I had never been pulled over or have got a ticket for anything so I was really scared and upset. I was following my friend back to my house after we ate dinner and we were on route 10. There was a cop pulled over on the side of the road on the right and he had his lights on still, but didn't have anyone pulled over anymore. He was inside his car and he was pretty far off the road. Since I was following my friend and her and the car in front of her did not get over in the other lane I didn't think about getting over either, but usually I do every time. They say if you do not feel as if it is safe to get in the other lane then you are suppose to slow down well under the speed limit. I did slow down well under the speed limit because the speed limit is 55 so people usually go 60 and I was only going 45 miles per hour when I passed the police officer. When he pulled out when I passed him I didn't even think he was coming after me until he cut his spot light on and came on his speaker and told me to pull over. I was freaking out because I had no idea what I had done because I knew I wasn't speeding. I was going well under the speed limit.

When he came up to my car he asked for my license and registration and he told me that I failed to get over. It's called the move over law. I was very upset and I called my parents and they were telling me it's going to be okay he's going to go back to his car and look up your record and see that you have never been pulled over and you have a clean record and he will give you a warning. Well no they were wrong he was a total jerk and he wrote me a ticket anyways. I was very upset and angry after that. I knew the worst that would happen in court would be that they would give me driving school so my charge would get dropped, but I was still very nervous and did not want to go at all. I prayed that everything would just get dropped or my police officer would not show up to court.

The day I had court I was in the court room and I saw all these other police officers, but I did not see mine. More officers kept walking in, but I still did not see mine. So I knew that my ticket would more than likely get dropped because my police officer was not there. I had to sit through all the traffic cases with lawyers and all that. It took so long I was in the court room for like three hours. I was almost the last person to go. The guy before me had the same police officer and he had a ticket for the move over law also and his got dropped, so I knew mine would too. I was still very nervous going up to the judge even though I knew everything was going to be perfectly fine. He asked me if I knew how the move over law worked and I said yes your honor. Then he asked me if I slowed down and I said yes your honor I slowed down to 45 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. I told him I did not feel as if it would be safe to get over and have to get back over to make a right hand turn onto Lewis Road so I did slow down well under the speed limit and he said he believed me and to just make sure I get over or I slow down every time. He also told me that I had been punished enough having to sit through all these other cases for 3 hours. The judge was very nice and was a great guy. I was so happy that my ticket was dropped and that meant I did not have to pay for my court fee or driving school. Being at court for the first time made me never want to go back. So I make sure for now on that I am obeying the law and that I get over for police officers and if I can not then I slow down. Going to court really makes you never want to go back and never get a ticket again. Luckily I had a very nice judge.

Essay on Family

So for our second essay our topic we have to write about is family. I am not sure what exactly I am going to write about yet, but I have been trying to research some things that I can write about and trying to find a main topic that I will enjoy writing on. This is a argumentative paper and there are many different things in life that families have problems with today.

For example so many more people and parents are getting divorces and there are many different issues with that sometimes it can really mess you and your family up. Also teenagers are having babies at very young ages, teenagers getting into drugs and other bad habits, gay families who are adopting children, and many more issues.

I just have to figure out what topic I am going to write about and get started on my paper. I hope that this paper is just as easy to talk about and fun to research about as my last paper. My family means literally everything to me and I have the most amazing parents and brother anyone could ever ask for. All my family members are the best. They are always there for me anytime I need them and I am always there for them too no matter what. I just want to hurry up and get these three papers done and out of the way.

Spring Break

I had such a great Spring Break, but I hated having to come back to school. It was so nice to have a break from work and school and was able to relax. I did a lot of things over break for one I went to Nags Head with my parents for the weekend. I really needed to just get away and have a vacation and it was great. Nags Head is like my second home to my family and I and I hate having to leave. It was sunny everyday and was pretty nice. We went shopping, walked on the beach, went out to eat, etc.. My parents and I had such a great time together. Also during my Spring Break I had court for a ticket I had got and it got dropped so I didn't have to pay for the court fee or anything. I was so happy. This was the first ticket I have ever got. For the rest of the break I just mainly relaxed and had a good time with my family and friends. It was so upsetting when Spring Break came to a end. I just want it to be summer already because I am so ready for warm weather. I am so sick of all this nasty, cold weather. I can't wait to be done with school and go to the beach and on the lake and all that fun stuff during the summer. Also I'll be working full time and I'll be making a lot of money over the summer which I am looking forward to and really happy about.

Snow Days

I was so happy that we had a long weekend because of the snow days. At first I really didn't want it to snow because I am so sick of this cold weather and I am just so ready for the summertime to get here. After it snowed and school got cancelled on Monday and Tuesday and I didn't have to go to work I was so happy because I was able to just relax and enjoy my snow days. I was really happy that Tuesday classes got cancelled because I have my biology lab on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 4:30 and we were suppose to do our exam lab practical or whatever. Also I had like two lab reports that were due Tuesday and I was working on them Tuesday night when I got the text message saying school was closed on Tuesday and I was so happy. Now we won't have our biology lab for like two weeks because spring break is next week. This will give me more time to finish my labs and study for our test. I really didn't do too much on our snow days. This weekend I mainly hung around and just relaxed and watched movies. Monday night my brother, a few of his friends, one of my friends, and I all went sledding. It was a lot of fun because I hadn't been sledding in a very long time. Also it was the first time I actually went out and did something in the snow all year really. We all had a great time together, but I hope this was the last snow for the year. I am so ready for warm weather and to go to the beach or lake. Summer is one of my favorite times of the year. I can not wait to be laying on the beach, relaxing, and having a good time. This summer is going to be a good one!

For the past week or two I have been working on my first essay for this class. The first essay is a argumentative essay on crime and punishment. I decided to write my essay on lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18. Through out my essay I am discussing reasons why I think the drinking age should be lowered. Also I am talking about how a lot of people are on my side about lowering the drinking age, but also a lot of people are against lowering the drinking age.  I struggled a little bit when I was trying to begin my essay, but after I got started on it I was on a roll from there. I actually am really enjoying writing this essay because I feel very passionate about what I am writing about and I am also enjoying researching different information on this topic. I have already wrote almost 1,000 words and it is suppose to be around 1,500+. I really don't have much more I have to finish writing. I need to finish one paragraph and then do my conclusion paragraph. After that I just need to clean it up a bit and check over it and make corrections. I hope that the other essays we do in this class will be just as good as this essay has been for me.

Today one of the groups in our class did a presentation on apostrophes. They showed a PowerPoint to the class and along with it they had sentences where the class had to find the missing apostrophes. I think that they did a very good job with their presentation. Apostrophes serve two basic functions. One they show possession, and they indicate that letters have been removed from the original words. For example Don't, You're right, Ms. Jone's house, etc. It is very important to use correct punctuation. These group assignment's I think it a great way to help us understand and know how to do these things. You should not use an apostrophe in the possessive pronouns such as Whose, ours, yours, his, hers, its, theirs. In all I think this group did a great job on their assignment.
